Cullom, Illinois | Every year, either on this site or around home, I here a story about how someone messes up and plants their crop at the wrong population. Corn planted on last years soybean setting, beans planted at 80,000 because of a sprocket mix up. But what I just can't get my arms around is that most of these happen to guys with planters newer than 1985 and they all should have a population monitor. Do they not look at the monitor? Is the thirty year old Dickey John monitor too complicated? Maybe more people farm without a monitor than I think. It's one of those things that makes me shake my head in wonder. | |
