Exactly! Spring Brook you are right on with that statement! I am watching a certain equipment dealer in this area do lots of business with out of state customers , take on huge equipment trades with BTO's , and yet the local guy gets looked at like chopped liver! We tried to demo a piece of USED tillage equipment (soil finisher) to see if it did a good job of leveling. We were told to buy it first, then if we didn't like it to it back for a refund, minus a rental fee. We are always cash-in-hand customers with no trades! Should be a equipment dealers dream. But unless it is a $1M transaction , they want nothing to do with you.
That is a sad situation.. yet remember equipment dealers are required to sell so many millions per year in order to keep the Franchise.. In South West Michigan one John Deere Dealer has taken over a number of smaller local Dealers... John Deere Wants Mega Dealers only ... I was told by one Farmer that the Mega Dealer no longer gives him a 10% discount on stock order parts like the previous small one branch dealer did.
I personally think other color tractors have caught up with John Deere on quality and features and often cost less too .. Yet John Deere is known for good service and you can get the part you need overnight ? |
