After WWII we were the only major country that was left with a manufacturing base intact. The rest were blown up or bankrupt. We were the "go to" country to get whatever the world needed in manufactured goods with few alternatives. Is that the situation we find ourselves in today? A powerhouse exporter with a tremendous surplus balance of trade? Quite the opposite today than what we had after WWII John
