| I agree, until you, rent until he decides he is really interested in band, or even the French horn. My experience is the band directors tend to push kids towards the instrument positions they need. When I started out in band I was told the trombone would fit me best. WE bought a new trombone but I never really got the hang . WE got a new director & he switched me to tuba my freshman yr. So happens we had sveral t-bone players but only a couple tuba players. By my senior yr I played 1st chair in the band & solo chair in the all-county band. Nice thing about the tuba was the school furnished it. When my son wanted to play in the band I pushed him to the tuba. Glad I didn't buy an instrument because his freshman year he made the varsity football team & after a disagreement with the band director about being in the band or playing football he quit band. At least I didn't have any money tiesd up in an instrument like my folks did. | |
