It is what it is at least when you buy a new tool with batteries it works in all the older ones, they are change the battery type completely or making a 20 volt or 21 volt tool every time they change something to try and make the old tools obsolete. The difference between the 1/2" non fuel impact I have and the fuel 1/2" impact is night and day.
