I got through high school playing 4th or 5th chair trumpet on a beat up old Getzen that my folks maybe paid $200 for. I was right there with the kids playing the $2000 Bach Strad's. Practice would have had me ahead of them. I sprung for a $400 silver Yamaha when I went to Iowa State, but would have fit right in with my gold colored Getzen.
