Montana 1920ish.
Even though we hate to admit it we don't work a tenth as hard as they did. We have tractors and hydraulics and backhoes and tile plows. We don't have to run a mexican backhoe anymore. Everything is self powered and mechanized. They had mechanized equipment but it was either horse powered or human powered. Gasoline powered tractors were still a novelty. When I tile I can't imagine the size of some of the tile that was dug in by hand. There are 15" mains around here that were dug by hand. I can't imagine working that hard.
