Eastern ND | I bought the 6" retrofit bulbs from a big box store and could NOT be happier. I changed out all I had, a couple yrs ago, and have been impressed with them. About $28 each, but they use about a third of the elec, and put out as much light, and were easy to change.
Just remember, when the LED bulb package says the "equivilant of.... watt bulb" THEY ARE LYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A 75 watt incandesent bulb puts out about 800 lumens. You need to use that number to get a similar amount of light.
I think the 30,000 hrs or whatever number they use, is in a specific temp ares, with the light staying on the entire time. If You flip the switch on and off 5 times per hour the bulb would not last a year. Just like all bulbs, it is the on-off cycling that shortens the life. | |
