The Hesston inlines can be swung off to the right side of the tractor, so you don't have to run over the windrow at all. Dunno why Freeman wouldn't have done that on their 1390 baler... The inline chamber stuffing does less manipulation to the hay and just stuffs it straight up into the bottom of the chamber with a 90 degree twist action. I'd reckon that if I was going balls-to-the-walls and had the right dew, or I was baling grain hay, that I did 40 tons per hour with the Hesston 4690 inline cranked up to the max. To me, the slowdown in the side-feed NH and Freemans was how they moved the hay into the chamber - like those big 90deg sweeps and stuff. The Hesston inline moves the hay very little to get it up and into the chamber - the rotating pickup has done most of the work of putting the hay up into position right beneath the chamber.
