Yea, know all that. Lots of guys in Diamond Valley run Freemans for many of the same reasons.
I just like to yank the chains of guys running those Freeman tanks. Makes a really nice bale, nice flake, but their throughput is limited compared to the inlines. When you get only a couple hours baling dew in a night, and one set of buttocks to put in front of a baler, it pays to make the most of it. We'd get old biddies telling us guys who ran inlines that we should switch to Freemans. When asked if they were going to pay for the baler and the additional labor to run it, weeeeelllll.... of course not. Deere doesn't know jack about balers. Used to have Deere marketing people out of Reno (yes, they have an office of some sort in Reno) wondering why there was no Deere hay equipment used in Nevada, not even the big baler. I got the impression that hay is a bothersome market to Deere - they make a two-string or two-wire baler just to shut farmers up when they come into the dealership.
