| Here in SD we take branding fairly serious on the west side of the state. However, once they cross the river all bets are off. There have been quite a few cattle stolen here over the last year and most likely were taken across the river or state line. Please take branding seriously as it is the only way to identify cattle as yours. Using a cut ear, dew lapping , or using a certain color tag to identify cattle only invites trouble to the neighborhood. Brands must be cheaper in NE as it costs $50 per location of brand here. $150 for one side of a critter would be a little steep in my eyes. | |
