N FLA | I attribute mostly to forage quality. These cows just aren't suited to raising calves without plenty of supplement on our grass pastures. But this winter grazing is like magic for them. But calving in the fall and this type of forage is kind of the exception not the rule for this area.
I do have a good number of cows that don't have any teeth here. They are more likely to work in this situation. | |
