It's fairly common for the rockshaft arms to strip the splines on those tractors, I'd check that and if they are both stripped and the rockshaft got turned the stepped flange that the sensor rides on will be out of position and can easily break or bend the position sensor. Also there's a spec that the position sensor needs to be adjusted to.
