No what he is saying if every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to grow corn the price will not be as profitable as when the Johnny come latelys started growing corn. I don't remember hearing anything about corn produced in the fringe acres prior to 08. I'm sure it was just not on the scale now. It's a free market and will work itself out. I think it just bothers some people hearing about poor basis when what exactly did you expect when your infrastructure isn't made to handle the amount of bushels corn can make or a substantial market for it. Also, poor test weight and wet corn shouldn't be a complaint either. On an exaggerated similarity, that would be like central plains trying to grow coffee cause it's worth more money even if our weather doesn't allow. I don't begrudge anyone for trying to make a buck. America was founded on that and that's waht the board is for. To tell people to plant or not to. Not other farmers. Hope everyone has a profitable year.
