Subject: Baler twine or bale tension using Kuhn accumulators

East Central Missouri
We have been using the plastic Bridon 9000 baler twine in our inline small square baler the last couple years. What other brands would you all recommend that would be a better quality twine. We seem to have a lot of issues with the twine breaking or pulling out while still in the bale chamber. We are pulling a 15 bale Kuhn bale accumulator behind a Hesston 7110 inline. We have tried adjusting the bale tension on the chamber, cleaning and greasing the knotters each day, had the dealer come out and adjust, and still cannot figure out why the bales keep breaking. It is a real pain to cleanout with the accumulator attached and 3-4 bales going straight up in the air. Just looking for adjustment ideas or a suggestion on a different brand of twine. This is mostly baling wheat straw and a little grass hay every once in a while.

We have backed the bale tension off since the bales are being pushed out and then straight up into the air through the bale chute on the accumulator. My brother (who runs the square baler most of the time) wants to crack the bales down tight no matter if the bales are falling on the ground or into the accumulator. I have tried to get him to back off on the tension when hooked to the accumulator with the assumption that the bales are too tight, thus breaking the bales... What are your suggestions or experiences. TIA

Louie
