West Texas | Just about every day, you'll see signs, ads, and elected officials talking about the benefits of buying locally. Support the Mom & Pop stores to keep the community alive. We all know that when you do, you will pay a bigger price. Yes, we can live with that, however when you walk into the local store and engage one of the store employees, tell them what your are looking for and proceed to ask questions about a particular item, (refrigerator) and someone of the same ethnicity of the employee walks into the store, the store employee says "excuse me a minute' walks over to the new arrival, then takes them over to the stoves and starts to give the all the details of the stove, what do you do? I walk out of the store, drive a hundred miles, buy the refrigerator from a national chain and cross that local store off of my list. Evidently my wallet doesn't speak the same language that is spoken in the local store. |
