Kill everything first, we have been doing this for a long time, we have been working on cleaning out some sections we have that 10 to 20 acre farm sites that have grown up, trying to make it as easy as possible for larger equipment, we spray everything first and use a ripper we made for behind the dozer, spaced the tines 12" apart, run it around 3ft deep, it pulls up almost all the roots and lets us know where the big rocks are so we can dispose of them at that time...
