I'm sure you would be losing some BTUs in some way, but very similar to how little one actually is losing when he sees white vapor coming out behind the NH3 knife. A thimble full of NH3 liquid I am told will make enough vapor to fill your car. As long as you don't see white vapor, which is liquid propane going to atmosphere, you will be losing a negligable amount.
