Seems like the ground connections can be a problem with those dash gauges.
We had one several years ago and at times most the the gauges would go to the "bad" side of things. Fuel would show lower than true, temp would show higher than true etc. Rapping on the dash would get them to work again for a while.
4440 gauge ???
