Is the drive failing mechanically or is the master boot record corrupt, meaning the problem is software related?  If the drive is failing mechanically your going to have a very limited amount of time to spin it up and try to copy or clone it.  If it the problem is with the MBR I'd just add it to a working computer and copy your needed information off it of.
