| Grew up on a corn/bean/cow-calf/hog farm. Used a Mooers Grind/Mix mill. I have not been able to trace its history, eventual parent company, etc. This old mill ground shell corn, ear corn, hay bales, oats, you name it, and never plugged the hammercase. Plugged the blower assembly a time or two filling a fifty foot silo, though. This machine was orange, ran off of a 540 PTO, needed about 60 HP or more to really work well, first drive ratio was a row of 10 or so V-belts. Feeder auger [left side] had an exposed bevel gear drive. supplement hopper [back side] had a 6" auger, give or take. Discharge auger [right side] was fed by a sliding gate aside the hopper, and it pivoted at the bottom, no joints like ArtsWay, just one long auger with a cable winch. Any fans/experts/hacks out there with some knowledge to share?? | |
