Turns out I have an Associates Degree in Diesel Mechanics and worked as a John Deere technician for two years before I decided to come back to the family farm...Anyway, I never said that I didn't like the features of the 8940. There were things I liked about them and all I ever heard from others is how reliable they were. However, when you buy the supposed, "best series Case IH ever built" with only 2,900 hours on it in that good of condition and have that much go wrong with it within 600 or so hours pulling a field cultivator...I'd say THAT PARTICULAR 8940 is a nickle and dime piece of crap!! Maybe the previous owner didn't take care of it, or maybe it was just a fluke that it was one of the bad ones, who knows!?...Deere's have their problems too, I know I worked on them for a living, but on OUR farm I've never had a Deere that has had all those issues in a time span of 600 hours of use. Obviously you have better luck with RED equipment than me, or you enjoy carrying a wrench in your hand fixing stuff more than farming and making money.
