| I agree with this. tillage expecially fall tillage in warm moist conditions will chop up earth worms feeding on the residue. When it gets colder and the worms go below the tillage zone you will kill very few. The same can be said for AA, but you are only placing it every 30" so less are affected.
When we were 100% conventional tillage through the mid 90's we rarelly saw night crawlers in our fields. Since we switched to no-til, even though we still use AA, we see tons of night crawlers. I walked across a field of bean stubble about dusk one night in the spring and it looked like the ground was moving. There were so many night crawlers sprining back into there holes there was no way to avoid stepping on them. And Yes that field had AA applied in the fall.
