I guess my goal is to have more humates in the "zone." Whether it's from the decomp of the soybeans turnips or radishes, or actually applying the humates. I got the idea last spring. I have a grain cleaner and I sell the fines to a cattle producer. If I have a light load (mostly bees wings) or I need room, I spread on my sand. The corn is always darker colored where I plant into these fines. I understand it's probably more concentrated and heavier rates with fines, but I thought the beans would be a cool thing to try. The turnips or radishes may be even better to try. If I look at what's going on with the fines, I can guess the corn is greener and taller because of humates. Maybe I'm wrong. I would believe if I can get the radish or turnip to grow like most want before a frost, that I would have more natural humates than I could from banding the humates alone.
