You may be right and likely that is what the powers that be hope.

On the other hand, maybe there is good reason the powers that be are militarizing the police force, enact laws that allow military troops to be used domestically, government agencies are being issued huge numbers of rounds of ammo, key financial organizations are given "bug in" kits so they can survive without outside help and laws like the patriot act give almost unlimited power to enact martial law and limit citizens rights to assemble. Maybe they know something most citizens would only consider conspiracy theories and dismiss as being a possibility.

Strange things are afoot.
