just a tish NE of central ND | Not sure on a super M, but a regular m is like this.
Did you break the gear with a bolt that was too long for the hydraulic pump mounting? I've seen that done. Are there scars cut into the side of the broken gear pieces as evidence the bolt was hitting it?
It doesn't matter which revolution the crank is on or position it is in as long as the cam and crank gear marks align up properly where they mesh during rotation and the cam gear is on the camshaft properly. Both marks should be visible from the front of the tractor.
How is the new cam gear attached to the camshaft? Is it a heated press fit type of gear? Did you buy a new gear or find a whole camshaft with a gear on it?
To time the crankshaft and cam gears, the gears have marks that point at each other or have a dot on them. If they line up they are right Just line those up. Crank gear has a keyway
I don't remember how the cam gear is put on to the camshaft, but I believe there is a key way for alignment. Surely, if there isn't a keyway and its a hot press fit there must be a mark to align there somewhere?????
Another thing, when putting the hydraulic pump back on remember that there is a shorter bolt or two needed that screws in to the housing in the vicinity of the cam gear. If you screw a longer one in there you will break the camshaft gear again as it screws against the cam gear. So you need at least one short bolt if not more.
