No, 65 is on the low end for the area unless it is south of Marcus a ways. In the Marcus-Primghar-Sac-Galva series of soils which is predominant in NWIA, you would have to be on the lighter end of the spectrum - Sac or Galva - to average that low for CSR. Marcus soil, named for the town where this farm is located, is the heaviest and best soil in the series but references ground north of town. Most farms have an average in the 70s until you get west of highway 75 or south of highway 3. That being said, our CSR-2s without the penalty for weather are much better. I have seen farms in eastern Sioux County which are flat, black, and mostly Marcus or Primghar soils increase from a CSR-1 around 70 to a CSR-2 in the mid 90s . Case in point is the farm linked below - adjusted from 71.5 to 96.6. Farm ground around here is much better than CSR-1 would have indicated.
