Yes varieties and soil profile is better. I can look and find residue from three years back on top. And learning from mistakes. Also, budget for 100 bpa with 17000 pop and appropriate fertilizer and our rents in OK are not completely over priced. I would not plant a new NT field to corn without ripping it and making sure you started with good moisture profile.
Cattle , cows and stockers, are an integral part of my rotation just as much as wheat, corn or beans and in the last few years way more profitable.
What are you close to?
