| If you're putting beans into a metal bin then you will need to run the fan for at least a couple days no matter what their moisture is. Even 8% beans go thru a "sweat" and that's the reason for running the fan. Beans in a wooden bin don't go thru this "sweat" . With good aeriation beans can be put in a bin at 16% moisture & doesn't take a lot to dry them dowm, no heat needed just air.
Otherwise we do just like we do corn once trhey are dry. Run the fans a couple days when the outside air temps get to around 10ยบ and close it up. We have kept them well into the summer that way though I do advise to check on them every once in awhile.
I know where a bin is that has not been emptied in at least 3 years. When I rented a farm a few years ago it had a wooden grainery that still had 40-50 bu of beans in it. Previous tennant hadn't used the grainery in at least 10 years. Other than some rat damage theywere in good shape | |
