Freedom, WI | I agree. We just bought an 8100 so I hope it is a good tractor and lasts us along time. Our 4440 has 9000 hours and the engine or transmission has never been touched. The only major problem we have had with it was the pto and that was a fluke. If you would put a cab the size of an 8000 series and put an 8000 series MFWD on a 4440 but still have no electronics, I think you would have a pretty good tractor. If you would make a 4020 new, a 466 would be a nice upgrade from a 404 for easier starting in cold weather. Two of the simplest tractors John Deere made IMO. Can't wait to get our new to us 8100 home to see if it proves to be as reliable as our 4440 and 4020. | |
