Central NY | Owned both. JD makes a tighter and heavier bale in dry hay. We did tear up belts periodically but we also worked it pretty hard. Got pretty good at patching belts and always kept 2 spares on hand. Mostly baleage now so we went to NH7060 3 or 4 years ago. Doesn't make bales as heavy. Had a set of belts replaced under warranty thinking that might help making tighter bales. No luck. Then they added a kit to try to put more tension on the belts. Didn't make a difference. It has to be washed periodically to keep the tread on the belts clean for wet hay or it won't start a bale very well. Net wrap works fine with any brand for us.
Neighbor has new JD and absolutely hates it. One problem after another with controller or wiring harness. JD can't seem to solve the electrical problems. He wants to trade on Claas baler but they don't want his one year old baler on trade. Other neighbor had issue with net wrap and electrical on NH but dealer fixed those issues.
If I was making only dry hay I would choose JD due to the tighter bales. | |
