Subject: RE: IH 4366 Tractor

Ravenna Ohio

3 versions built. 4366.  DT466, 10 speeds, IH finals. AC 440  555NA Cummins, 10 speed, truck finals planetaries. Steiger BearCat?, 3208 Cat, 10 speeds, Truck axle planetaries. Think all have same hydraulics. My opinion. Those V8s, not great. IH axles??? Had the AC 440. Motor didn,t like me. NA motors are noisy period. Had a 4586 with 855 Cummins. The IH axles held, But had nasty chatter under faster turns. AC was ok. The hinges in that chassis can be changed in home shop with a bunch of blocks and a second tractor. Was pretty easy. Made a huge difference in the ride. Pulled 6 shank Blu-Jet with them. 215hp was not fast. But it handled it. The 855 just idled with it. Tended to use just 1 or 2 work gears. Could be some wear. Mine started popping out of gear. Get it fixed off season at first sign. We popped cab off to pull. Of course at that point we said, good time to paint it. They served us pretty well for the time.
