| Is it set up with a mag or a distributer? If it has a dist, take the wire going into the dist from the coil and unhook it. Take a jumper lead from the + post on the battery and clip it to the wire going into the dist. Try starting it. If it's starts and runs correctly you have something bad from the coil back to the switch. I would also check the backlash in the dist just to make sure you don't have a bad bearing. Also... those engines can be bad about sticking a valve if they sit alot, pull the side cover off and check to see if that could be a problem as well. Just a few off the top of my head thoughts. | |
