Lapel, In
Eliminate most of the risk. Install a hose just behind the cutter bar or install a series of sheet metal dams behind the cutter bar. Senior moment--forget what they are called ----maybe a Johnson grain saver or rock guard ? Anyway, I installed them right after picking up a $7,000 rock several years ago. Have never gotten a rock up into the cross auger since. At the time I bought the kit , it was $200 a foot, but some of the best money I ever spent. Rocks are stopped short on the top of the cutterbar. They work great in short beans too.Causes the beans to tumble into the auger. Also stops beans from rolling back off the platform.
