Subject: Is there still money in feeding cattle? Ya I think so

Gary Edwards Anamosa, Iowa

Early last summer I asked if there was still money in cattle feeding.  What I finally ended up with shrink and slide figured was some 760 pounders at $1450 each.  Back then figured needed $155 to $156 to break even.  Sold the big end load today at a little over $2500 each (averaged 1525# at $1.66.), after trucking commission etc.  After all expenses including feed, principal and interest payment on buildings and machinery, labor (cost of living) etc, still have a profit of over $150/ head.
