Central Texas | Vets have told me close dehorning too much trauma for cows more than 6 mo bred and this one is 7 mo. When got her home realized her disposition epd wasn't as good as I had previously thought, so wanted to do more than just a little off the top but not get into veins and nerves. Had just minor bleeding but she didn't act like got into any nerves.
Seems the horns scare off a lot of potential buyers, so hoping the haircut and getting closer to spring and calving will add lots of value. Guess time will tell. If not will calve her out and go from there. Don't see much downside either way. | |
