Subject: RE: Small pickup mileage

If you can find a Mazda 2000 with a 5 speed in reasonably good condition, buy it. I bought a new one in 1986 and it got an honest 33 mpg on a long drive and would get 28 mpg just going back and forth from town It never gave me a nickle's worth of trouble, and was much quieter than either a Toyota or a Nissan of the same vintage.

These pickups are not hot rods, but will go between 85-90mph flat out, and cruise very well at 75 mph. I wish I had never gotten rid of mine. It was as good a vehicle as I have ever had.
