Yeh, the grad students did all of the grunt work. Actually, the nutrient requirements for a plant differ by stage of development. The shoots have different requirements than plant matter 6" or 12 inches down. And leaves maya be different than stems. No different than humans. Nutrient requirements for babies are different from teens and adults and geriatrics and sick folks, etc. In plants, it is just one continuum. That is why plant deficiencies show up in a specific area of the plant at a specific time.
