Update: got a set of left handed drill bits with matching easy outs from my father in law, shaft piece came out pretty easy. Drilled a pilot hole, then a large hole, then used the easy out with a 10" crescent wrench and it twisted right out.

Learned this morning you can no longer get the shaft from Deere (or whoever made it for them) so looks like a used one from Worthington is in order then to the dealer for a rebuild/reseal. They will sell you a new pump for 1,025.00 which is a bit more than I want to pay.
