Hey jec. I think you should be fine with the 9 shank on 24's. I am using 11 shank Krause Dom on 15's with 535. I still have the 12 speed Syncro trans. Couldn't pull it with any smaller of tractor with old trans. You I think will be better off with the cat power shift even with a smaller tractor. You will be better able to get the fastest ground speed and get the best fuel economy. I believe that tractor can be set to shift into the next gear to allow for max productivity. Cat transmission was tested and abused to the max in big versatile high hp tractors and as far as I know they haven't been able to break not a single one of them so far. I wish I had one in my 535. Would be a huge help in hard compacted fall tillage situations. Hope this helps.
