| The difference is "control", you can figure a death loss in on what your going to bid for a set of calves. You've been around enough to have a handle on what your loss is going to be and you bid accordingly.
The other side loses their "control" as soon as our calves enter the sale ring. If the buyer wants to sort one off because he has some white hair across his back they sort the calf off, whatever the buyer wants he gets.
You can buy calves with some history behind them or you can go shopping in the bargain bin, but you chose what your going to do. The only choice the seller has is where he unloads his calves.
