I remember as a kid in the sixties hearing the sonic booms of jets breaking the sound barrier. Also remember finding those little strips of aluminum foil they used to drop sometimes. Remember a couple of jets (Tudor?) coming over  the yard at what seemed like tree top level making such a noise that it scared the cows up to the far end of the pasture. Glad it wasn't milking time.
