interesting question, i have a an appointment to have my one ear flushed out on Monday morning. seems like it has to be done about every 2-3 years, and always the same ear. been using drops and peroxide to soften it for about a week now. when it finally breaks loose it feels like the solution they use is gonna come right out your eyeball, otherwise its not a bad thing.
