N FLA | It frustrates me that Papaw and I and others like us save the junk cattle because we can predict short term gains, while we let the nice cattle go to slaughter. Because we can't pencil near term or even long term profit. Seems like that cycle really works against cow numbers in USA. Kind of a treadmill you can't get off.
Just takes 18 months of feeding an open cow to sell a pair in Spring 2016. Guess that opportunity has to look more worthwhile to actually increase the cow herd. | |
