Been my experience that when they have the choice between good free choice hay and good silage they will eat mostly silage and a little hay after they have learned to eat silage. Might need to slightly limit hay until they get to eating silage well. Think free choice hay will be ok once they are eating silage depending upon how much of each you want them to eat.
