I kinda think you are right but don't know for sure. I had to climb in one of mine this evening and try to loosen bales up because I didn't have a tractor on the farm. The combination of me baling tight and feeder made cattle gnaw a smooth hard edge that couldn't be penetrated. i'm sure if they ever get a bite, they have to pull hard which would seem hard on teeth.
