I can tell you if they weren't "fancy" and just good old reds they'd be worth quite a bit more.

If calves don't drop under $1400 next fall I'd still be happy.  I think the dollar strengthening is going to hurt the export market and prices aren't going to sky rocket again next year.  Although you can't touch a good red replacement calf right now for under $2K and Superior toady they brought over $2200, at least two people are thinking it is going higher or they really want those red heifers.  More and more guys are running pregnant cows though their feedlots and others looking at grazing irrigated ground.  

March heifers will be worth a lot more if they have a nice tight calving period and not 60 days+.  Today they are either side of $2500 depending on lots of variables.
