| I tried an Ag Focus Fast Trac closing system on one row of my John Deere 1770NT this year. I just wanted to see if there was as much difference as they say in emergence. I like the way it firms the soil over the seed; however, I did not see a noticeable difference in time to emergence or stand. I was planting in somewhat wet soils. One field I planted with it had a living cereal rye cover crop. My fast trac had the spiked closers instead of the little disc blades which are supposed to be better for no-till. I am convinced that the large press wheel over the row is the way to go, but I am considering trading planters so I don't want to go ahead and equip the rest of the rows. My next planter may be a Case IH simply because of the row unit. If you are interested in trying the fast trac out, I would sell mine. It only has about a hundred acres on it. | |
