Sandy Hook, MB | garvo - 11/16/2014 11:19 but comes back that you really need to know the dry matter of your ingredients first before you can make assumptions of actual dry matter intake can a guy really get a 50% moisture ration at 63# consumption in a 900# calf?or is that ration really 60% moisture and if its 60% moisture what is the actual dry matter value of certain silage's over corn? And then be able to weigh the factors of which ration is cheaper over which ration
Hello Garvo
That's why you use DM basis when balancing rations & comparing feed stuffs. If you have lists of nutrients on an as fed basis, including all minerals' & supplements' labels & tags, you have to convert those to a DM basis. |
