We know Holsteins have a tendency to fiddle with things however we have had very little complaints in terms of their ability to remove the new cover. We were having so many complaints about the Holsteins and their ability to remove the pins on the older style which is one reason we switched to the new design.
We do recommend that you spray a cooking spray on the bottom of the lid and fill with water seal groove it rests in with water. This will freeze down in the winter and to release, pound on the lid with a rubber mallet to loosen it. We would not suggest using a flame or high heat to melt the ice in the water seal groove as this could distort the unit and void the warranty.
